RExSchool21 on Experimental and Behavioural Economics of Social Norms and Social Preferences
The international Summer School came to the end
The Summer School was held online from 19 to 22 July. The goal of School was spreading knowledge and transferring skills necessary to conduct cutting-edge experimental studies on social norms and social preferences, with special emphasis on cross-regional, long-distance and online experiments. An additional goal was to promoting experimental research in Russia and in other emerging experimentalist countries.
We received more than 50 applications from 17 countries, of which 22 were selected on a competitive basis, representing countries such as Russia, Germany, China, Korea, Brazil, Benin/Canada, Greece, USA. The program consisted of lectures for participants, group work (projects to be developed in small groups during the Summer School), a cultural program, as well as participation in the RExCon21 International Conference held on the same dates.
Three keynote speakers - Loukas Balafoutas, Matthias Sutter and Erin Krupka - presented their recent research and overview papers, and also participated in the Summer School as experts on projects submitted by school participants. The participants listened to the lectures from the school tutors, took part in the work of the international conference RExCon21, and also prepared 5 group projects:
- Does watching football matches make football fans more altruistic?
- Social Expectations, Social Preferences, Gender Differences: DG with punishment from responder depending on infromation about gender and lying decisions.
- How do social expectations change the perceived risk of sanctions
- Overwork and the social norm associated with it
- Social influence exerted by a focal person on health-related decisions
