Interregional trust in Russia – First results of a behavioral and survey study

The paper presents the result of the first online experiment on trust over Russia, conducted online in 2020 in 12 cities of Russia, from St.Petersburg to Vladivostok and from Makhachkala to Arkhanglesk. The experiment was conducted by strategy method, and involved over 2000 participants who made about 25,000 decisions. Results of the sotudy show rather high level of behavioural trust (58%) and trustworthiness (44%), which is way above both self-reported generalized trust for Russia and global experimental findings. These levels are generally consistent with participants' expectations, and are relatively uniform across regions, with some notable exceptions. Further, Russian regions reveal substantive in-regional bias, and telling variances in regional differences of trust and trustworthiness.
